Germany has long been a powerhouse for industrial and heavy metal, but Munich-based outfit ANTIROPE is currently carving out a space that feels decidedly more cerebral and atmospheric. With their latest music video for the single "Intervention," the band leans heavily into an alternative metal sound that bridges the gap between the gloom of 1990s Seattle Grunge and the crushing weight of modern alternative-metal. “Intervention” is the second music video from their highly anticipated second full-length album, Bring Me To Zero, which will be released on May 1st, 2026, via Eclipse Records.
Directed by the band’s own guitarist, Patrick Fleischer, the music video for "Intervention" eschews traditional narrative tropes in favor of raw, suffocating intimacy. The primary focus remains on the band in a studio-style performance setting, capturing the kinetic energy of vocalist and guitarist Slaven Stokic, bassist Julie Fleischer, and veteran drummer Jürgen “Bam Bam” Wiehler(ex-Bonfire, ex-Megaherz). However, the true centerpiece of the visual experience is a series of grueling underwater vocal sequences.
"For myself, it was a physically demanding process to capture these scenes, performing while submerged in a bathtub that visually exhibits distress,"explains vocalist Slaven Stokic. "These moments are not merely for shock value; they provide a visceral metaphor for the emotional weight and tension in the lyrics. The struggle for breath on screen perfectly complements the song’s oppressive atmosphere, making the Intervention mentioned in the title feel like a desperate necessity for the viewer, rather than a choice.” Guitarist & director Patrick Fleischer adds, “There isn’t a strict narrative or hidden concept behind the video. Our main goal was to create a visual atmosphere that supports the emotional tension of the song. Lighting, color tones, and the overall imagery were chosen to underline a slightly oppressive, intense mood rather than to tell a specific story. We actually like the idea that viewers can connect their own feelings and experiences to the visuals instead of being guided toward one fixed meaning. The focus was always on translating the song’s emotional weight into a strong but restrained visual atmosphere.”
Bring Me To Zero marks a significant evolution for the Munich-based band. Produced by guitarist Patrick Fleischer (Lacrimas Profundere, Darkseed, Alev) at Lungfull Studios, the upcoming album promises a heavier, more hook-driven sound characterized by bold vocal arrangements and an explosive rhythmic backbone. Overall, the album sounds massive without sacrificing intimacy, letting every riff, breath, and impact land with deliberate weight. Antirope’s sound remains rooted in the primal heaviness of Black Sabbath, the brooding grit of Soundgarden, and the hypnotic sprawl of Neurosis, yet the band never settles for homage. Instead, they carve a distinctly modern identity where dense, down-tuned riffs collide with psychedelic textures, and moments of crushing volume dissolve into eerie calm. As Antirope prepares to unleash their new album Bring Me To Zero, "Intervention" stands as a powerful testament to their evolution. It is a track that demands attention, not through flashy gimmicks, but through the sheer gravity of its performance and the uncompromising honesty of its presentation. For fans of heavy alternative metal music that explores the shadows beneath the surface, Antirope is proving to be a mandatory listen. The album contains eleven tracks, including standouts like “Zero,” “Intervention,” “Afterglow,” and a cover of the Cream classic “Sunshine Of Your Love.” The album artwork, created by the band themselves, mirrors that duality: stark, personal, and uncompromising. The album is set for release on May 1, 2026 via Eclipse Records.
