Instrumental post-doom heavyweights Clouds Taste Satanic are now streaming their new album Berlin 2023 in full via The Obelisk, ahead of its official release tomorrow, March 6, through Kinda Like Music.

The album marks the second installment in the band’s Live in Studio series, a concept designed to capture Clouds Taste Satanic exactly as they exist in their natural habitat: loud, hypnotic, and monumental.

Recorded live in Berlin during the band’s 2023 tour, the session strips everything back to the raw essence of their sound. No studio trickery, no polish, just towering riffs, hypnotic repetition, and the slow-burning gravity that has made Clouds Taste Satanic one of the most commanding instrumental doom bands working today.

For the band, that immediacy is the entire point: “We want these ‘Live in Studio’ sessions to give the listener an honest representation of the songs we played and what we sounded like on that particular tour. If you came to a show, this is a reminder. If you couldn’t make it, this is what you missed.”

Recorded live with no overdubs at Berlin’s legendary Big Snuff Studios in May 2023, Berlin 2023 documents the band’s European tour setlist from that year, preserving the physical force, volume, and flow that have made Clouds Taste Satanic one of the most formidable instrumental acts in heavy music today. The album will be available on yellow vinyl, CD, digital download, and streaming, and features striking Berlin-inspired artwork by Simon Berndt. Pre-orders are now available at this location

Formed in Brooklyn, New York in 2013 by guitarist Steve ScavuzzoClouds Taste Satanic were conceived as a collision between the minimalist gravity of Sleep andEarth and the instrumental heft of Pelican and Bongripper. Their debut, To Sleep Beyond the Earth, established the project with a single 40-minute composition, and the band have released a new record every year since, steadily expanding their sound beyond traditional doom boundaries.

With minimal lineup changes across more than a decade, the band have built a reputation for blending stoner rock, classic doom, space rock, and progressive metal into immersive, riff-driven journeys. Their live shows, often accompanied by elaborate visual elements, have become multi-sensory experiences that amplify the depth and intensity of their recordings.

Following the release of Birmingham 2024 earlier this year as Volume I in the Live in Studio series, Berlin 2023 continues this unfiltered exploration of the band’s immense live power.

Line-up:
