It is a great pleasure to present the band Take The Tides, I saw the band recently at Tvornica Kulture. They left an excellent impression on me, a band that deserves attention, so the team alone is a warm recommendation, see the band live, believe me, you will truly enjoy it. The fnatastic rhythm section stomps everything in front of it like a freight train, then there is the guitarist who performs miracles on the guitar, so I really enjoyed watching the band.
Take The Tides is an instrumental heavy psychedelic trio from Varaždin, founded in 2022. Combining psychedelic rock, post-rock and stoner aesthetics, the band creates atmospheric instrumental compositions shaped through improvisation. They are currently working on their debut studio album All Damned Switches, which is scheduled for release in 2026.
BIOGRAPHY
Take The Tides is an instrumental heavy psychedelic band from Varaždin, Croatia, formed in 2022. The project was founded by guitarist Hrvoje Kreč and drummer Nikola Kekez, who previously played together in the Varaždin-based stoner rock band Sten Mol. They were soon joined by bassist Dominik Kavur, completing the band’s current three-piece lineup. Take The Tides develops its sound at the crossroads of heavy psychedelic rock, post-rock, stoner rock, and atmospheric instrumental music. As an instrumental band with no vocals, they create their songs through improvisation, gradually shaping ideas into complete compositions. Their music combines hypnotic psychedelic melodies, heavy riffs, and ambient textures, with a strong focus on dynamics and atmosphere.
The songs often build through gradual progression and long- form development, blending powerful stoner and post-metal sections with meditative, cinematic soundscapes. The band draws inspiration from the classic psychedelia of the 1960s and 1970s, as well as from the contemporary heavy psych, post-rock, and instrumental music scene. Since their formation, the band has been actively performing across Croatia, with notable appearances at KVART Festival in Varaždin, ŽECfest, Tvornica kulture in Zagreb, AKC Attack (Medika), as well as numerous club shows within the regional alternative scene. Over the years, they have established themselves as a strong live act, where improvisation, atmosphere, and performance intensity come fully to life.

In 2025, they released a live recording of the track “Oannes,” captured at ŽECfest, while they are currently in the process of recording their debut studio album All Damned Switches, scheduled for release in 2026. Conceived as a conceptual work, the album explores the idea of constant change and transformation through compositions that evolve, shift direction, and move between different atmospheres and dynamics. This theme of change is also embedded in the band’s overall approach, aiming to capture the sense of movement and evolution present in their live performances, while translating it into a more refined and intentional studio form.
