Southern Italy’s stoner doom trio King Potenaz return with their new album Arcane Desert Rituals Vol. 2, due out June 12th via Majestic Mountain Records, and have just released a music video for the lead single “Sumerian Nights.”
The band had this to say about the new track: “From the dust-choked ruins of ancient Sumer and the whispers of long-forgotten cults, we present our crushing new single: “Sumerian Nights.” This song is a harrowing sonic descent into midnight rituals, blood-soaked invocations, and primordial symbols of power, where we dive deeper into our esoteric abyss, blending fuzzed-out riffs, cavernous doom, and psychedelic desert visions.
“Sumerian Nights” breaks the first seal on our upcoming album Arcane Desert Rituals Vol. 2, and this next chapter pushes further our exploration of arid mysticism, occult darkness, and monolithic sonic force.”
Following the success of their debut album Goat Rider and the critically praised Arcane Desert Rituals Vol. 1, the band continues to expand their occult desert doom universe, pushing their sound into heavier, darker, and more hypnotic territory. Built on fuzz-drenched riffs, cavernous grooves, and psychedelic atmospheres, the new record further refines the band’s blend of stoner rock, doom, sludge, and occult metal.
The album was recorded at Stefano Manca’s SudestStudio and mixed and mastered by Marc Urselli, and sees the band exploring themes ranging from ancient mythical rituals and dark fantasy to cosmic mysteries and existential voids. The lead single “Sumerian Nights” captures the mystical and ritualistic side of the album, combining hypnotic grooves, heavy riffs, and an atmosphere that feels like a desert ritual unfolding under ancient stars.
Drawing inspiration from classic acts such as Black Sabbath, Electric Wizard, Kyuss, Monster Magnet, and Sleep, King Potenaz continue to build their reputation within the underground doom and stoner scene, delivering music that feels both heavy and hypnotic, raw and atmospheric.
With Arcane Desert Rituals Vol. 2, the band further solidify their identity, a heavy, psychedelic journey through occult imagery, desert landscapes, and cosmic darkness. Pre-orders will be announced soon.
