Norway's premium heavy blues rockers The Devil And The Almighty Blues announce a special LP and CD reissue for their acclaimed self-titled debut album on September 4th through Ripple Music.
Nine years after it first rumbled out of Oslo’s underground, the self-titled debut from The Devil and The Almighty Blues is bringing its monolithic, slow-burning blues back to life for a new generation of riff worshippers thanks to a special Ripple Music reissue.
Initially released in 2015 on Norwegian label Blues For The Red Sun, the six sprawling, hypnotic tracks on The Devil And The Almighty Blues feel like hitting a true crossroads where Heavy meets Soul, and Doom shakes hands with the Delta. "We came together as a band in 2012 with one simple intention: to play slow, heavy blues. At our very first rehearsal, we started playing an old Son House song, Grinnin' In Your Face, and instantly knew we had found our direction. That same rehearsal also gave birth to two of the songs that ended up on this album. To finally hold this record on vinyl again means the world to us. We're incredibly grateful to everyone who has supported us and been part of our journey over the years. We're excited to continue this journey with Ripple Music, creating new music and taking it on the road for many years to come," the band says.
The debut album reissue marks the first step in The Devil and The Almighty Blues' collaboration with American label Ripple Music, leading up to their anticipated new album release in the spring of 2027.
With a profound love for the old heroes of the Blues walking hand in hand with rock, metal, country and punk, The Devil and the Almighty Blues is armed with vintage Gibson guitars and tube amplifiers. Their take on blues-based rock is slow, heavy and melodic, and crowned by frontman Arnt O. Andersen's soulful, commanding vocals.

When the 60s turned into the 70s, there was a musical crossroads. The American blues had had its run with teens on both sides of the Atlantic long enough so that the blues-offspring named rock’n’roll had to expand or die. It did not die, it expanded in all kinds of directions! And right there in the crossroads between blues-based rock and all the world’s other sub-genres of rock, something happened to the blues. The format got experimented with, expanded and almost made unrecognizable. But at the same time, the roots of the original ’real’ blues were never lost. Where Peter Green left Fleetwood Mac in 1970 with the track «Green Manalishi», where Johnny Winter stretched his musical legs, where ZZ Top bought Marshall full stacks and shot from the hip, and last but not least where the legend himself, Muddy Waters, stretched the limits of what was ’legal’ with the album «Electric Mud». And not to forget Hendrix, Free, Canned Heat and the rest of the gang from the Woodstock era. The result was a highly electric musical revolution, where the newly born genre hard rock walked hand in hand with traditional delta blues.
It is out of this musical mud that The Devil and the Almighty Blues have found their inspiration. Their music is slow, heavy, melodic and raw, all without losing the almighty blues out of sight.
