ROLLERBALL have reunited with Californian label Ripple Music for the exclusive vinyl reissue of their 2009 album "Submarine" as part of the label's "Beneath The Desert Floor" series. Drenched in the brilliance of 70s heavy rock, "Submarine" delivers addictive blues-tinged licks propelled with modern grit, stomping grooves and unwaveringly magnetic vocals as shown in the We Always Slide and Seasoar videos. Formed under the scorching sun of the Gold Coast in 1997, Australia's stoner rock veterans Rollerball have released three EPs between 1999 and 2005 and four full-lengths between 2002 and 2009, with their debut "Lost In Space" establishing them as the worthy down under peers of pioneering bands Kyuss, Fu Manchu and Nebula.

In 2009, after a 5-year hiatus, Rollerball released what would be their last album, "Submarine". 2004’s "Oversize" was produced by Aussie pop rock legend Mark Opitz, giving the latter a more polished approach than their "Superstructure" debut and previous EPs. Although it was well received and a great experience for the band, this time they opted to return to self-production.

The band recruited long-time friend Jeff Lovejoy to capture the album at BlackBox Studio, Brisbane. Guitarist Dave Talon, Jeff and Luke Earthling shared production duties. The result was a much more stripped-down, raw sound that most fans agree better suited the Gold Coast Quartet. As always, Rollerball recorded a live foundation without a click track and then proceeded to build a sonic soundscape upon it. The menacing nautical theme that runs through the album was a dream-like melding of guitar and bass enhanced by the use of an early 80s Roland Juno-60 synthesiser. Drummer Cam Roach dug deep into his percussive repertoire, creating layered tribal beats that included the use of vocal percussive techniques, while friend and session musician Luke Moller added fiddle to top off the sea-shanty "Your Lullaby".

"Submarine" was originally released on CD by Plus1 Records and featured artwork by Alex Von Wieding. The original release concluded with an epic 16-minute jam titled "Never A Rodeo", which although not on the vinyl reissue, will be included as a digital download.

A few words from guitarist Dave Talon: "The pressing of 'Submarine' to vinyl is something I have been personally hoping for since its birth in 2009. It was originally released at a time when the band had fallen out of favour with Australian radio stations. Radio was still playing a critical role in the success of an act at that stage, so the album didn’t get the exposure that we thought it deserved. A big thank you to the Ripple Music team for continuing to dig up albums that lay 'Beneath the Desert Floor'."
