American doom behemoths ACID KING are bringing their landmark album Busse Woods to European clubs and festivals this spring, on a rare tour that will see the San Francisco trio perform their 1999 classic in full each night. Prepare to follow the freeway of the damned, because Acid King is taking you deep into the woods!

This spring, American doom legends Acid King will embark on their most anticipated European trek in years, bringing their monolithic, fuzz-drenched odyssey to territories they rarely touch, including Scandinavia and the Balkans. What makes this journey truly historic, however, is that each night the San Francisco trio will perform their 1999 cult masterpiece Busse Woods in its entirety for the first time on European soil.

Frontwoman and guitarist Lori S. invites fans to surrender to the ritual: "Acid King is bringing 'Busse Woods' to Europe for the first time, by playing the release in its entirety. Please join us and experience in person the heavy fuzzed-out trip to the woods." From the crushing hypnosis of "Electric Machine" — which was recently featured in Oscar-nominated independent film Sirat — to the swampy, ritualistic crawl of the title track, this is a rare chance to witness a landmark of heavy psychedelia played live, start to finish, in cities that rarely feel such earth-shaking weight.

Breaking a new record in the international heavy scene by reaching #96 on the Billboard Top Albums chart, their 2023 studio album Beyond Vision on Blues Funeral Recordings has garnered unanimous press from critics and fans alike, bringing Acid King back to the scene's forefront with its crushing, undulating and lysergic heavy psychedelia — supported by countless festival and club shows across Europe and North America.

Adopting the nickname of notorious teenage slayer Ricky Kasso, Acid King  came screaming out of San Francisco in 1993 with a sound that fused heavy ’70s proto-metal with the kind of bleary, slow-rolling dirge power being harnessed by their contemporaries in Sleep and Electric Wizard. The band’s 1993 debut 10” was followed two years later by their full-length debut Zoroaster (Sympathy For The Record Industry), which set the stage for a trio of crucial releases on Frank Kozik’s famed Man’s Ruin label.  Acid King’s acclaimed 1999 album Busse Woods solidified their reputation amongst a generation of riff worshipers, weed heads and heavy rock enthusiasts. Two decades of hard touring and sporadic recording ensued.

After parting ways with the musicians who played with her on 2015’s Middle Of Nowhere, Center of Everywhere, Lori formed a touring lineup for the Busse Woods 20th Anniversary tour in 2019. At its conclusion, Lori wasted no time pondering her next move. She had been plotting a possible collaboration with Black Cobra guitarist/vocalist Jason Landrian, and the sweeping lockdowns that attended the great plague of 2020-2022 provided the opportunity.

The result is Beyond Vision, and it’s unlike anything Acid King has done before. The 45-minute juggernaut released in 2023 through Blues Funeral Recordings launches a new era for the band who built the template for thundering, swinging, trip-inducing heavy: this is simply Acid King in widescreen technicolor and interstellar cinemascope. It’s that kind of serendipity that permeates this already classic album, and what began as an experiment became the path to a silver future.

Acid King have spent the years since Beyond Vision tirelessly touring across the US and Europe, bringing their fuzzed-out ritual to devoted crowds. With that chapter now coming to a close, Lori S. is already turning her gaze forward, preparing to enter the next chapter and begin work on a new album.
