Crimson Roots draw deeply from the blues to create expansive, evocative music in whichprogressive structures and psychedelic textures meet emotion and storytelling. Their sound isshaped by soulful guitar playing, expressive vocals, distinctive basslines, warm vintage keyboardsand dynamic drumming. Every instrument serves the song, shaping music that feels alive, honestand deeply human. Each track is a reflection of their shared journey – sincere and ever-evolving,just like the band itself.
Crimson Roots: Ina Salaj – Vocals, Kristi Dhimitri – Guitar, Kolja Becker – Bass, Idris Voegli – Keyboards/Organ, David Vinogradov – Drums
In September 2025, Crimson Roots released theirfirst full-length concept album, Open Roads(digital release). It tells the story of a traveller moving through distance, change and discovery. With tracks such as “Open Roads”, “Nowhere” and “The Crossing”, the album unfolds as ajourney between external and internal landscapes. The work was written, recorded and producedentirely by the band themselves. Open Roads captures the raw energy of live performance andcombines it with the warmth of an analogue sound. The album marks the beginning of Crimson Roots’ artistic identity – rooted in feeling, driven bycraftsmanship and created to endure.
Crimson Roots combine the emotional depth of the blues with the spirit of exploration found inprogressive and psychedelic rock. Their formative influences include bands such as Led Zeppelin,Deep Purple and Pink Floyd. Their music blends introspective songwriting with extendedinstrumental passages that draw on the tradition of classic rock whilst remaining modern. Theresult is a sound that feels both nostalgic and forward-looking – cinematic in expression andfirmly rooted in emotion. In May 2026, the album will be released on CD via Tonzonen Records and on LP via CargoRecords.
Open Roads is a concept album about movement, transformation, and the search for meaning. Itfollows a traveler who can be read as one person, many people, the listener, or the band itself, moving through uncertainty, collapse, resistance, and renewal. Each song is a chapter in thatjourney, where inner change and outer motion constantly mirror one another.
DriftingThe album opens in an empty, flickering city, where thefirst step away from the past is taken.Drifting captures the unsettling moment between leaving and arriving, when memory still speakslouder than direction. It sets the tone for the whole record: restless, haunted, and already inmotion.OpenRoadsThe title track is where the journey truly begins. Drawn forward by hidden secrets, nightlandscapes, and a feeling that cannot be ignored, the traveler steps into the unknown with bothfear and fascination. It is the sound of being pulled outward by something larger than yourself.
StepsSteps is about perseverance when there is no map and no guarantee. It turns wandering intopurpose, showing how identity is built slowly, choice by choice, mile by mile. At its heart, it is asong about becoming through movement.ClocksWith Clocks, time becomes a presence of its own. The song reflects the pressure of passinghours, the weight of memory, and the feeling that every step forward comes with a cost. It is oneof the album’s most introspective moments, where the journey turns inward.FallingThroughThis is the breaking point of the record. Falling Through captures the moment when everythingonce believed to be solid begins to collapse, leaving only instability and the instinct to survive. It israw, direct, and grounded in the fear of losing what once felt permanent.TheTowerAfter collapse comes defiance. The Tower shifts from personal struggle to collective force, turninganger and pressure into resistance. It is a song about standing together, confronting power, andrefusing silence.

WhenWhen reveals the need for human closeness after the fall. In the middle of uncertainty, chaos, andemotional extremes, it reaches for comfort, light, and someone to hold onto. It is one of thealbum’s most vulnerable songs, and an important emotional turning point.NowhereWith Nowhere, the album enters a surreal and liminal space. Doors open, walls bend, and the linebetween inner and outer worlds begins to disappear. It feels like drifting beyond reality, whereidentity loosens and the traveler is forced to face the unknown in a new form.TheCrossingIThis song marks inner transformation. The Crossing I is about moving throughfire, carrying pain, and stillfinding the strength to continue. It sounds like a rebirth in motion, where endurancebecomes a kind of power.TheCrossingIIIf thefirst part is internal, The Crossing II is the decision made in the outside world. The travelerturns away from passivity, leaves the crowd behind, and accepts the uncertainty of the roadahead. It is a song about choosing movement over safety and growth over comfort.TheMountainThe album closes with arrival, but not with ease. The Mountain is about becoming somethingsolid after everything that came before: distant, wounded, strong, and immovable. It is the end ofthe journey, but also the moment the travelerfinally becomes the landscape they were trying toreach.
