Powerful guitar riffs, rich bass lines, and energetic drumming! This power trio from Dortmund masterfully blends stoner, grunge, psychedelia, and post-punk across their varied compositions. Since the release of their debut album, Neuzeit, in November 2024—which garnered praise from independent music critics—the trio has captivated audiences at over 60 shows across Europe. Their second studio album, released in October, presents even broader sonic landscapes, weaving together various genres—from grunge and post-punk to stoner—sometimes even within a single track. This is the signature style of this power trio from Dortmund!
Last Bølt Ceremony: delir.ium
Just under two years ago, Last Bølt Ceremony took us by surprise with their debut album Neuzeit; now their new album delir.ium is out, taking us into new realms of stoner, prog, grunge, psychedelic and post-punk. The album’s title not only evokes associations with a disturbed state of consciousness or hallucinations; the record’s diversity of forms also suggests an imbalance between body and mind, resulting in an extremely compelling sonic experience. Temporary dissonances, sudden changes in tempo and atmospheric soundscapes highlight the musical adventurousness of this trio from Dortmund, comprising Thomas (vocals, guitar), Frank (bass) and Dan (drums).

Are you ready for the journey into delir.ium? With demora – Spanish for ‘delayed, late, protracted’ – you’ll be whisked away. Just as information arrives late in the brain or tasks that take a long time to complete need to be tackled, this song builds slowly but with increasing intensity, gradually developing broader soundscapes that unfold through a wide variety of guitar echoes and the vocals acting as an additional sound module. The changes in metre in raging river bring to mind a surging river or sudden shifts in mood, whilst the lyrics remind you of the feeling of facing an almost insurmountable task and yet managing toovercome it. Drones probably unites all musical styles more than anything else. The reference to the male honeybee, whose sole purpose is to fertilise a young queen, is gradually unravelled in the song: The calm opening, brief bursts of intensity, long sound loops and unexpected breaks symbolise the bee’s long working life, the dreariness of which comes to an abrupt end either immediately after mating, or more commonly during a drone battle in late summer, when it is driven out of the hive. It is precisely this that is reflected in the ending of drones – an emotional fireworks display of sound art.

Ides of march, a reference to Caesar’s assassination in 44 BC and his disregard for the warning, is a purely instrumental track of epic length and intense dramatic tension. In true prog rock style, the soundscape builds slowly here too, but does not end with the sudden onset of the metal section; instead, it dissolves once more. Just when you think the song has reached its conclusion, another dramatic crescendo sets in – the very catastrophe that ultimately befell Caesar’s life. The follow-up, delir, the album’s title track, is a veritable stoner anthem. The song, which starts off sluggishly, is literally carried by the bass and drums until, after a break, the vocals descend into delirium, the singing verging on a breakdown. At first, this is reminiscent of an acute state of confusion, but it might also simply feel like a blackout following a boozy evening. The final track, purple poppy – a reference to purple poppies, which, as a potent opiate, depress the central nervous system – also evokes a good, deep high. Imagine the future of grunge: Kurt Cobain writing this song in Seattle in 2026. Here you’ll hear chorus-heavy, crunchy guitars, intense vocal parts and recurring, memorable, voluminous orgies of sound. Enjoy this whirlwind of sounds and emotions!
