BRUECKEN return with “Onward Transmission” the band’s new single and video, available now. The track marks the first song written as a five-piece after Bernd joined on synths, born from intuitive experimentation that instantly revealed new possibilities for integrating electronics into BRUECKEN’s songwriting. Pointing the way toward the band’s upcoming record, the song opens up a broader, more expansive sonic palette.

With its distinct space- and sci-fi vibe, “Onward Transmission” finds a visual counterpart in a self-created video built from re-cut archival footage. Balancing retro nostalgia and science fiction, the clip expands the song’s atmosphere while echoing the idea of an important message being carried forward—transmitted onward, into the unknown.

The single also sets the tone for Years That AnswerBRUECKEN’s third full-length and most ambitious release to date. Inspired by Zora Neale Hurston’s line “There are years that ask questions, and years that answer,” the album confronts a world shaped by climate crisis, war, and rising authoritarianism, asking how hope can survive—and transform—in turbulent times.

For the first time since their 2017 EP, BRUECKEN reintroduce vocals into their sound: from the solitary voice of guitarist and singer Thorge Freidel on “periapsis” to the powerful choral finale “signs of spring,” featuring the Emden Kneipenchor. The band’s sonic evolution is further driven by the addition of Bernd Frikke (MMTH), whose synths and electronic textures expand BRUECKEN’s emotional and musical range.

Recorded across Berlin and Oldenburg, mastered by Magnus Lindberg (Cult of Luna, Russian Circles, Refused)Years That Answer balances crushing heaviness with fragile, atmospheric depth. Moving confidently beyond genre conventions, BRUECKEN forge a distinct, immersive sound—one that doesn’t just ask questions, but demands to be felt.
