On Tuesday, 20 January 2026, the video for Tiny Space premieres on YouTube. It’s the title track of Georgeanne Kalweit’s forthcoming album, due out on NOS Records in March. Following the release of the single last October, the song now takes on a visual form: a poetic, surreal journey through transformation, memory, and disorientation.
Directed by New York–based visual artist and filmmaker Ericka Beckman – an internationally acclaimed figure and founding member of the Pictures Generation, with works held in the collections of MoMA, the Metropolitan Museum, the Centre Pompidou and the Whitney Museum – the video renews a long-standing artistic collaboration between Beckman and Kalweit. Drawing inspiration from Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, the video explores shifting perceptions of scale and personal metamorphosis. Through post-production techniques and playful manipulations of proportion, the character played by Georgeanne Kalweit expands and contracts, embodying an identity in a state of constant flux. A key role is also played by the costumes designed by Alessandro De Benedetti: garments created for Romeo Gigli that evoke Victorian and fairytale atmospheres, underscoring the symbolic passage from a confined self towards a freer, more mature form. Shot between Milan and Salento – with scenes filmed at Manifatture Knos in Lecce and in the artist’s own attic apartment, which inspired the album title – the video traces the emotional aftermath of a profound rupture, portraying an inner journey poised between collapse and renewal.
“This project holds our shared history and is a vital part of my emotional path,” says Georgeanne Kalweit. “Ericka has always had an extraordinary ability to work with the language of the fairytale, turning its rules inside out. Doing this together once again has been both an honour and a joy.”
The video is released alongside the opening date of the Tiny Space tour, which takes place on Tuesday, 20 January, at Detune in Milan (Italy). On this occasion, Georgeanne Kalweit will present the new album live for the very first time with her band: Giorgia Poli (bass and backing vocals; collaborations: Scisma, MiceVice, Sepiatone, Freaky Mermaids, Cesare Basile, John Parish, Hugo Race), Beppe Mondini (drums; collaborations: Ottone Pesante, Nana Bang, Meteor) and Davide Mahony (guitar and backing vocals; collaborations: Analog/Hybrid Era, Pineapple Facial Wax, Absolutely Trees, Il Grande Omi, Sepiatone, Paviglianiti, MiceVice, Gurubanana, Jet Set Roger & the Reindeers).
Born in Minneapolis (USA), Georgeanne (GI) Kalweit is a singer-songwriter and performance artist who has lived in Italy for over thirty years. Her voice is among the most distinctive in the Italian independent scene. From 2000 to 2004 she was the vocalist of the electro-pop band Delta V, with whom she released two albums on BMG-Sony. She later founded Kalweit and the Spokes (2009–2015, Irma Records) and The Kalweit Project (2016–2020, Lecce), releasing three albums and performing both in Italy and the United States. Alongside her solo work, she has collaborated with artists such as The Dining Rooms, Vinicio Capossela, Calibro 35, and Cesare Malfatti (La Crus), as well as making numerous guest appearances in Italian and international projects. In recent years, she has worked with Ottodix, Züth!, Max Zanotti, Ninotchka, VonDatty, and The Elephant Man. Her music spans electronica, post-punk, and experimental songwriting, with English lyrics that blend emotional intensity and poetic imagination.
